The
construction of the drop cable is shown below. The
upper half contains a single steel wire (messenger
wire). The lower haf contains the central buffer tube
with water swellable strength member yarns runs longitudinally
along the buffer tube. Two portions are jacketed with
polyethylene sheath and connected via an integral
web.
