| Design
/ Overview
The
figure-8 Self-supporting sheath is shown below. A
strand 7/1.32 or 7/1.57 or 7/2.03 mm, extra high strength
galvanized steel is used as the tensile bearing element.
The strand is flooded with a polymer compound for
corrosion protection and adhesion to the jacket. A
black High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) sheath connects
the cable core to the steel messenger wire via an
integral web.
